Taking it in stride: Cathy Freeman lit the Olympic torch in the Opening Ceremonies and then the hearts of all Australians when she won the 400 meters to become the first Aboriginal gold medallists in an individual event. Although Freeman is 8 inches shorter than Michael Johnson, she has a longer stride-91.7 inches to Johnson's 84.6 inches.
